In a recent comment regarding the Nokia N78 posted at engadget, Nokia spokesman Mark Durrant states:
“Nokia manufactures 3 different variants of the N78, depending on the area where they will be sold. As Erik suggested, RM-236 is for sale in China, where regulatory requirements do not allow mobile devices to include WCDMA and WiFi bands. RM-236 is effectively the same device as the RM-235, on which the testing has been based, apart from the removal of the WCDMA and WiFi bands.”
Durrant continues to review what’s happening within the US:
“RM-342 is the N78 variant that will be for sale in the American market - it contains WCDMA850, WCDMA1900 and WiFi; this will be filed to the FCC in due course.”
And, in due course, we hope to see the Nokia N78 for sale in the US!
